Attended the Robotics Summit & Expo last week in Boston. Definitely a trip worth taking.
Was able to chat with Steve Crowe from therobotreport.com while there. He noted that last year they had 573 registrants for the summit. This year they had over 1,500. Next year, they will host summits for both the east and west coasts. This explosive growth is consistent with what we're all seeing in the robotics field.
Great set of presentations over the two days. I attended many, as well as the AWS Robomaker immersion day. Very informative, albeit often with coloring from each of the company's perspective. With all the big players competing for the future robotics ecosystem (Amazon, Canonical, Google, Microsoft, NVidia, etc.), it's going to be interesting to see how things shake out.
Over 70 companies at the expo. Being primarily a perception guy, Livox jumped out for their interesting low-cost 3D LIDAR offerings. They have some data logs on their website. I'll try to take a look and post some thoughts.
Finally, it can't be a robotics conference without the obligatory robot waiters. Thanks to the sponsors for the great networking session!
